My Favorite Features of the Lucky Kennel

Posted by Brandon Trentham on Aug 2nd 2021

When it comes to protecting my family, I don’t like to leave anything up to luck. The Lucky Kennel is anything but wishing for luck. This kennel is rugged, sturdy, and built to last. Before we get into the features of the kennel, let me tell you about the cargo.

Our black Labrador, “Trentham’s My Fair Lady,” or “Lady” (AKA “Layla” by my 3 year old daughter Aspen), is a prized member of our family. She is now 8 years old, holds a SHR title (we had kids and didn’t take the time to do hunt tests beyond this title), and has retrieved over 500 birds in her lifetime. To some this sounds like a ton of retrieves, to others it may not be impressive, but for me, I am proud of every single one of those. Around the house, Lady snacks on left over chicken nuggets and fries, lunch meat, veggie straws, and only the Lord knows what else those kids may feed her. She is the protector, the jungle gym, and our best friend that walks on four legs. You can probably tell by now; Lady is part of the family.

In the waterfowl world, a hunt is just not the same without a retriever to share it with. They watch the skies while you joke with buddies, they snuggle up when it’s cold, and they hit the water relentlessly for every single retrieve. To them, every hunt is the Superbowl and every retrieve is their opportunity to show their loyalty.

Owning a hunting retriever requires lots of traveling with our pooch. From training grounds to your favorite honey hole, we log a lot of hours in the pickup truck. Safety is always something that I emphasize in the field and for Lady, that starts before we ever pull down the drive. I would not trust any kennel other than the Lucky Kennel and here is a list of features that support my claim. Check them out and then order one for your dog… you can thank me later.

1. 5 Star Crash Rating

The quintessential feature of the Lucky Kennel is the safety it provides while on the road with our four-legged family member. The Lucky Kennel holds a 5 Star Crash Test Rating from the Center For Pet Safety. The Lucky Kennel is tested to withstand 4,000lb of force and withstood 630lb. dropped from over 8 feet. This rotomolded kennel provides quality that you can count on if an accident should ever occur while your hunting retriever is on board.

2. Light Weight Design

This kennel weighs in at 38 pounds. This feature absolutely stunned the market when Lucky Duck was able to engineer a kennel that provided superior stability and safety with a carrying weight that anyone can haul quite easily. My wife can, and does, load the Lucky Kennel in the truck with ease. For us, the dog stays inside and being able to easily move the kennel when it is time to vacuum is a must.

3. Reversable Door

This feature is a must if you are hauling more than one kennel and need to adjust the direction the doors swing. Or, if you put on a little weight over the holidays and it’s late season and you can’t lean super far over the bed of your truck without blowing chunks.

4. Lifetime Warranty

This explains itself. The team at Lucky Duck believes in their product enough to put their money where their mouth is. This is the last kennel you will buy.

5. Made in the USA

The Lucky Kennel is proudly made in the USA!
