Waterfowling is something I truly love. I have hunted long before I built calls and would hunt just as much if I could never build another call again. I like about every single aspect of it, the scouting, the gear prep, the mud and the rest of the endless tasks that goes into really hunting waterfowl. I even enjoy the strung out runs of no sleep.

 I also really love making big piles of birds with all my buddies. Everyone is having a good time just soaking in the hunt, burning the sound of those cupped wings in their memory bank. That big pile of finished birds is how you know you played the game right that day. Tomorrow may kick your ass, but today you had a win.

 I have been fortunate enough to have made a hell of a lot of those piles with some really good waterfowlers, but as I have gotten older I have realized you can get lost in those piles pretty easy. Sometimes you just have to hold a single duck up high and think about how damn amazing the waterfowl we chase really are.
